We strive to make Popup Towers the sort of freewheeling love nest where interoffice relationships are highly encouraged, but sometimes struggle with the consequences. After Lily's break-up with Luo Hao, we took her aside and said "relax baby, there are plenty more fish in the sea for a hot cat like you." But she kept moping about, so we had to move her desk near the elevator.

If Luo Hao were to planning take Bai He to another company's party (ie. that the speaker wouldn't be at) would they have said 送百合去 rather than 带百合去? I always felt that 带 was 'take' in a 'bring-towards-us' manner rather than 'take-away-to-somewhere-else', but I haven't had that impression verified so far...

@mdubes13,带can be 带来 or 带去. So even it's another party, it can still be 带 - it implies "to lead". 送 is more like "to send off" or "to accompany" - it implies the person who is being sent wants/has to be somewhere and the other person doesn't. So in that case, Luo Hao will 带Bai He 去。

Luo Hao sounds like a real cad. One doesn't flaunt this sort of thing....

I was wondering, is there a difference between 以后 and 之后 or can it be used interchangeably? Could it also be "嘿,下班以后去喝一杯吗" ?Thanks.

@MaFe,以后:A period after "present" or certain time.之后: After certain time or afterwards certain location.[之后 is often used to indicate time and occasionally location]So they are interchangeable when they indicate time - so you can say 下班以后But 之后can be used for location 在队伍之后, 以后can't.之后 can be used independently at the beginning of a sentence with context.(他先走了)。之后,我们也走了。

Before PopupChinese, my experience with Mandarin was the Pimsleur lessons, which teaches "after" as 以后, so I would have the same question MaFe had. Good to know they are interchangeable when it relates to time.
